SM exporting to QB across network

We are implementing SM, and our QB Enterprise 2011 file is on our network (Windows Server 2003). All goes well until we try to use the XML exchange to move completed orders into the Quickbooks file; that bogs down QB for all users, and it takes about a minute for each order to be moved into QB. Is there something we can do to speed this up? We have up to 180 orders per day, and cannot afford to have QB brought to a standstill for 3 hours.

This doesn't seem typical.  There was an early enterprise version (I think 2008) that caused problems like this, but Intuit drastically improved the performance in the next release of QuickBooks.

When you say it takes ~1 minute per order you mean that SuperManager has the message "Building Request (x/y)" up for about one minute per order?

Are you using it with QuickBooks open or closed on the computer that has SuperManager installed on it?

We have Quickbooks open when we do the XML exchange. It is taking about one minute on each record - the message "Building request x/y" is on the screen for 45-60 seconds for each record. (Although sometimes QB stays on the "Logging in to Quickbooks" during the entire time it is adding the data to QB - somewhat annoying.) It does vary a bit with the load on the server: today we did 31 orders in 22:36, which was faster than yesterday.

The time was likely distorted by the fact that all of the orders were for new customers, thus meaning that new customer records had to be constructed in QB, and then the sales receipt was added. We then did a test adding sales receipts for existing customers, which went much faster. While this is acceptable, new customers still would pose a problem, as we tend to have quite a few on any given day.

You may be able to speed this up by kicking everyone else off the QuickBooks database, exporting the orders and then letting them back in.  I know this is a bit of a pain, but apparently Intuit still needs to improve the time for creating customers.  You may want to talk to QuickBooks support about this and see if there is anything else you can do to speed this up.  If you do, please report back what they tell you.

Thanks,
David
