Fixed Bugs / Re: Check for updates
September 21, 2006, 08:29:18 PM
Works perfectly for me. Although as you say there are no new updates. A thought about this though is that it should request that you do a backup of the data first. I know this is a no brainer for me since I have tried new versions and they are broken (not your software of course) and it's an easy way to reverse back to the older version if needed.

Just my 2 cents.

Not a big deal since I am running my own anti-virus program but it is McAfee. They probably disable port 25 so it doesn't become a relaying station and it is centrally managed so there is no way for me to turn it off (that I know of).

That's great news. We should need this functionality by then. I imagine you will implement a pricing structure similar to Quickbooks (the multiple seat license).

Found the problem and like you said it was their "antivirus software". Obviously it was doing a little more than virus checking. I have shut down their services and installed my Norton that just does Anti-Virus protection. Works perfectly.

Thanks for the tips.

No problem. I will use this update method and view the results after each one and then send it to you when it is noticed. It only happens occassionally so...time will tell.

Not sure if you are thinking of the same thing I am. I pull up SM at my desk but also at the Order Entry desk. Eventually as our enterprise expands I will need multiuser capacity and an order entry module but we are still a bit away from that. The problem is that when you install the program it doesn't keep all the settings in the database and thus keeps a .set file locally for program settings. This causes problems as I have to update each settings on both computers (and hopefully not forget to change both).

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Yes under the shipment is probably the best place for it as you said.

Hi,

I just installed the latest update of your software and noticed that it doesn't carry over program settings from one computer to the next. This could have caused problems due to the fact that the manual suffix setting was in there as well. Do you have any suggestions for using your software on multiple computers?? I think it would be good to have all the settings stored in the database instead of a settings file locally on the computer.

Just my 2 cents.

I have just noticed today that the Update Shipment Status sometimes errors out and puts the tracking info as an item in the order instead of where it should be. I am going to start to us update Yahoo as this is more reliable and seems to works 100% of the time.

I personally don't mind just deleting the manual orders if they accidentally get created but this is probably because we write out sales orders when they come in instead of inputting them right into SM. The only problem I have with adding more buttons for all these new features is clutter. You have done a great job in making sure this doesn't happen so far. Just my 2 cents but others may need the button.

Finished Requests / Re: Address Validation?
September 13, 2006, 02:20:43 PM
I actually am loving FedEx and I think alot of it has to do with our rep. Of course we are keeping an eye on the little issues to make sure they don't become big issues but we don't have much fraud to start with (low dollar items).

We don't care about the residential/commercial thing as we just send everything commercial and know that FedEx will put the $2 charge on their if it's residential. We charge for shipping based on the product and that is why. Also shipping is a profit centre for us. I checked out your website (I drive a Dodge 2500 HD) and can see why it's a big factor for you. Great looking website btw.

Good stuff. Actually looking at our last FedEx bill there is almost $90 in charges for change of address requests (customers are not suppose to be able to change them but FedEx still let's then and we get charged for it, 1 case of fraud happened this way). So yes anything to cut down that cost would be great.

QuickBooks / Re: Negative Sales Receipt Errors
September 13, 2006, 02:03:27 PM
Hi Rox,

Can I ask how your customers do exchanges and refunds with SM and QB. The reason why I ask is that you shouldn't post date changes in accounting as it messes up your accounting records. Right now I post returns and exchanges in QB manually (I do the credit in SM of course). This is proper accounting according to our accountant so I am curious.

This is all part of my question a while ago where I asked if the payment date could be imported as the invoice date into QB so that when you go to do a reconciliation and deposit it is on the proper date. I will give you an example where this doesn't happen. We have a product that is out of stock for 1 month. So when it does come into stock we will charge the card then ship it but the QB invoice date will be the order date and not the payment date which the bank recognizes.

Thoughts.

I can give you access to my computer again so that you can test it and see the files it produces or let me know what you need.
