Unfortunately this is a known issue with the Yahoo Store API.  SuperWare has discussed this shortcoming with them and they have it on their list of things to address, but have not fixed it as of yet.  There is, however, a workaround using custom fields:

  • Go to your Yahoo Store manager and click on the "Checkout & Registration Manager" link
  • On the checkout & registration manager, click the "Global Settings" link
  • Select the "Checkout Settings" tab
  • Under "Gift Options", choose "Disable"
  • Click "Save"
  • Go back to the "Checkout & Registration Manager" and click the "Page Configuration" link
  • Click on the "Secure Checkout" part of the "Order" Configuration
  • Go down to the "Page Sections" section and click the radio button next to "Other Information" and click the "Add" button
  • For "Field Display Name" enter "Gift-wrap"
  • For "Field Name Visibility" choose "Display Field Name in Checkout"
  • For "Display This Field" choose "At the Bottom of this Section"
  • For "Field Type" choose "Check Box"
  • Click "Next"
  • After Adding that field, repeat the process for adding the gift message the same, except enter "Gift-message" for the name and "Input Field" for the field type.

After setting up these custom fields, future orders should import into SuperManager with the Gift Message populated.

To add one of the import/export formats in this board:

  • Download the attached smx file from the forum post for the import/export you want to add to somewhere on your computer - for example, in your Downloads folder
  • In SuperManager, go to "View", "Program Settings"
  • Click the "Import..." button in the "Import/Export Formats" box
  • In the file chooser window, choose the location where you saved the smx file from the post

You will then find the import format under "File", "Import" and then the name of the format. Let us know if you run into issues adding or using one of the import formats you find here.

Access forbidden errors generally mean your API token has expired.  You'll need to renew your Yahoo Store API token.  To do this:

  • Log into your Yahoo Store Manager.  You may be able to do this by clicking on SuperManager's "Open Store Manager" button.  Otherwise, just log in as you normally would to the back end of your Yahoo Store
  • Click on the "Real-time Links" link.  This is under the "Order Settings" column.
  • Click on the "API Settings link.
  • Find the most recent token for "SuperWare, LLC".  You may need to select a subsequent page since only 10 tokens are shown per page.  They are shown in chronological order with older tokens being shown first on the list.  If you have been using the API for a while and have several services accessing it, the expired tokens may be on page one and the active tokens on later pages
  • Put a check next to this token and click the "Renew Selected" button.
  • If prompted, choose to give access to the "Orders API" and "Payments API" and accept any terms and conditions
  • Check your inbox for an email with the new token.  Tokens are exclusively emailed to store owners to the address they have on file with Yahoo.  We have found that this email address is the first one you used when you signed up for your Yahoo Store so often times store owners no longer generally use that email address.  If the token is not coming to your email addresses you generally check, you will need to call Yahoo Store support and find out what address they sent the email to.  Store tokens are never sent to SuperWare.
  • Copy and paste the entire token from the email, which is a long string of characters generally starting with "1.0_", into your SuperManager store settings by clicking on "View", "Store Settings" and placing it in the "API Token" field.

That should get you back in business.  If you have any problems, let us know!

There are many factors that could force SuperManager to unexpectedly close.

If you use AVG Antivirus
An update to AVG antivirus that was released in May-2016 started making SuperManager close when opening the order details screen, when searching for an order or product and perhaps many other instances.  Fortunately, this can be fixed by adding SuperManager to AVG's exceptions list:

  • Open AVG's control panel.  You can do this by either (a) Double clicking on the AVG icon on your desktop if you have one, (b) Double click on the AVG icon in your system tray, or (c) Enter "AVG" in Windows 10 Cortana or Windows 8 or prior's search menu
  • Press the "Options" drop down in the top right corner of the AVG window and choose "Advanced Settings..."
  • Choose "Exceptions" from the list of settings
  • Press the "Add Exception" button
  • Choose "Application or File" from the exception type drop down
  • Press the "Browse" button and choose "C:\Program Files (x86)\SuperManager\SuperManager.exe" for the file you do NOT want to be scanned
  • Leave the checkboxes as they are by default and click "OK"
  • Press "OK" again to close the advanced settings

This should make it so AVG no longer causes problems for SuperManager.

FAQ / How do I make a sales report?
January 19, 2015, 08:06:49 AM
There are a few options for creating sales reports depending on what you are looking for:

Financial Summary Reports
SuperManager can create a general sales reporting showing just totals of all sales, taxes, shipping and other amounts collected from customers.  A default report is installed with SuperManager called "Financial Summary.html".  To use this report, just select the orders you want to include in the report.  This can be done by using the SuperFilter, for example to include all orders in a given range of dates.  Once you have the orders you want selected, right click on them and choose "Print Report", "Financial Summary".  If this option is not listed on the list of available reports, go to "View", "Store Settings" and select the "Reports" tab.  Click "Add" and set the name to "Financial Summary".  Then click the "Browse" button and select the file "Documents\SuperManager\Financial Summary.html".  Set the report type to "Summary" and click "Ok" to save and close the store settings.  Then try to export the report again.

Sales Itemized by Order
SuperManager can also produce sales reports that are itemized by order.  These can show the same information as the financial summary, but with one line for each order showing you how much of each category was received for each order.  This is done the same as above, except choose the "Sales Summary" report.  If this is not available, add the report as above, except choose the file "Sales Summary.html" and set the type to "Range".

Sales for a Particular Product Itemized by Order
SuperManager can also produce the same report as above, but only showing sales for a particular product.  This is done by going to "View", "Products" and right clicking on a product for which you want a sales history report and selecting "Sales History Report".  This allows you to choose a date range and a variant for which you want to show the history - or choose "All" variants to show the history for all variants of the product.  You can choose to show this in the format of the financial summary report or the sales summary report shown above or any other "Range" or "Summary" reports.  If the report you want doesn't show up, use the steps above to add the report(s) to your store settings.

If you are looking for help doing something specific and can't figure it out, create a new post on our Printing Reports Board to get help.

SuperManager uses a series of libraries offered by Internet Explorer to navigate through Yahoo's and other shopping carts' back ends to download data, charge credit cards and other actions.  Sometimes issues with your internet explorer or other settings can cause these errors.  Please try the following in this order:

Closing Stalled Internet Explorer Processes
Some computers have issues with Internet Explorer processes stalling in the background.  Sometimes this can prevent SuperManager from being able to interface with it.  This can be remedied by choosing "Help", "Restart Browser" from SuperManager's main menu.  If the methods above don't cure the problem you may have to use this feature whenever SuperManager starts running into problems.

Update to the Latest Internet Explorer
Earlier versions of SuperManager used to work smoothly with SuperManager, but subsequent changes pushed out by Microsoft introduced issues.  Please make sure you have the latest version of Internet Explorer installed.

Check that TLS is Enabled in Internet Explorer
Yahoo made some recent security updates that now require TLS handshakes.  You need to make sure you're browser settings allow this.  To check this:

  • In SuperManager, go to "Help", "Restart Browser" to make sure there are not any hidden IE windows open
  • Close SuperManager
  • Go to the Windows control panel and open the "Internet Options" settings
  • Go to the "Advaced" tab and scroll down the list to the "Security" settings.  Look for "Use TLS 1.0" and enable it and all the other TLS options.  While there, also make sure " Use SSL 3.0" is enabled.
  • Save and close the internet options
  • Open SuperManager and try your request again

Disabling Internet Explorer's Protected Mode
On some computers, Internet Explorer's protected mode prevents it from exporting the information that SuperManager needs.  To do this:

  • In SuperManager, go to "Help", "Restart Browser" to make sure there are not any hidden IE windows open
  • Close SuperManager
  • Go to the Windows control panel and open the "Internet Options" settings
  • Go to the "Security" tab and uncheck the option "Enable Protected Mode"
  • Save and close the internet options
  • Open Internet Explorer and navigate to any website
  • Look for a popup message at the bottom saying that Internet Explorer's protected mode has been turned off and click the "Don't show this message again" button

Make Sure Internet Explorer is Not In Compatibility Mode for Yahoo
Starting in Internet Explorer 7 Microsoft added compatibility mode to make sure that changes made to how IE interprets web pages didn't break compatibility with existing websites.  However, this mode has a few quirks and apparently one of them is how it sends data to integrated applications, such as SuperManager.  You'll need to make sure this mode is NOT enabled for your Yahoo! Store back end.  To do this, close SuperManager and open Internet Explorer and go to your Yahoo! Store manager.  Then look next to the address bar for an icon that looks like a page torn in two halves.  If it is there, check to make sure it is grey as opposed to blue.  Grey indicates it is disabled, which is what you want it to be.  If it is already disabled, try the suggestions below.

Check for this list of SpamWare
Certain programs that can be installed on your computer can cause these libraries to be altered to versions that are incompatible with SuperManager's function calls.  Typically these programs are SpamWare programs that you probably don't even know are on your computer.  They install themselves with little or no approval from the user.  Go to the windows control panel and select the "Add or Remove Programs" or "Programs and Features" section and look for the applications below.  If you find one or more of them, select it on the list and choose "Uninstall" to remove it from your computer:

  • Adblock Plus
  • ConvertFilesForFree
  • DealCabby
  • Trend Micro Security
  • Trusteer
  • VID-Saver
  • YTD Toolbar
  • Yontoo
If after uninstalling all of these applications and rebooting your computer SuperManager still gives you these error messages, you proceed to the next step.

Try Using SuperManager's Alternative IE Integration
In some cases SuperManager will be able to correctly integrate with Yahoo by just switching the approach it uses to grab XML files.  Try this by going to "View", "Program Settings" and enabling the option "Use Alternative IE Integration".  Press "Ok" to save and close the program settings and try it again.  If it still doesn't work, switch that setting back and try the suggestions below.

Disable Delete Browsing History on Exit Setting
On at least some computers, enabling the option to delete browsing history causes Internet Explorer to stall in the background and causes problems for future instances of Internet Explorer.  To disable this feature:

  • Close SuperManager and all internet explorer windows.
  • Go to the Windows control panel and open the "Internet Options" settings
  • Go to the "General" tab and uncheck the option "Delete browsing history on exit"
  • Save and close the internet options

If none of these methods fixes the problem, please contact SuperManager support for help.

FAQ / What to do when I get "Invalid Store ID"
March 28, 2014, 05:32:31 PM
This error is intended to trap a situation where you have entered a store id in your store settings that isn't accessible from the username and password you have entered.  Unfortunately it can also indicate other problems.

Update to Version 1.6.8.5 or Greater
Early December 2014 Yahoo made some updates to their login process.  SuperManager has been updated to accommodate these updates as of version 1.6.8.5.  If you currently have version 1.6.6.0 or greater installed, just go to "Help", "Check for Updates" in SuperManager's main menu and choose to install the update.  You may need to use this process twice, once to update to 1.6.7.0 and another time to get to 1.6.8.5.

If you have a version older than 1.6.6.0 installed, you will have to download the update manually.  To do this, go to http://www.thesupermanager.com/download.php and enter your license key. You can find your license key by going to "Help", "About The SuperManager" in SuperManager's main menu.

Check that your Access to your Store has not Expired
If your Yahoo login ID is not the one that your Yahoo Store was opened under, it has been granted access to your store.  These access rights have an expiration.  You may need to renew your login ID's access to your store.  To fix this, login with the Yahoo ID that owns the store at http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/.  Once logged in to Yahoo small business, you should see a list of stores that you own or have access to.  Find the store you are needing to use with SuperManager and click "Access Manager".  In the access manager find the user account you are using with SuperManager and click on it.  You can then click "Edit" to modify the expiration date of that user's access to your store.

More Things to Try
If you have installed the update and check your access rights and are still getting this and/or other errors when logging in, try the following:

If these things do not fix the error, contact support for more help.

FAQ / Is SuperManager PCI Compliant
August 29, 2013, 03:18:37 PM
This is a difficult question.  PCI compliance is a very complicated subject.  While we don't have the proper credentials to  that SuperManager is 100% PCI compliant, we can offer the following information that can be used to  that:

  • There are two ways that you can make sure that credit card information is not stored on your computer by SuperManager.  First, you can go to "View", "Program Settings" and switch to the "Database" tab and uncheck "Credit Card Information" under "Optional SMG Database Fields to Save".  This makes sure that credit card information is not ever saved to your hard disk.  However, credit card numbers will be kept in the computers RAM memory for as long as you have SuperManager open.  In other words, if you add a credit card number to an order, that credit card number will show up in an order until you close SuperManager.   Once you close SuperManager and re-open it, you will find that the credit card number and expiration date are no longer in the order.  Alternatively or in addition to that, you  can go to "View", "Store Settings" and select the "Security" tab and change "Expire CC Information" to "30 Days" or another value.  This will make sure that credit card information is not re-saved into your file after the specified number of days.  Once an order is more than that number of days old, the next time you save the file, the credit card number will be replaced with "EXPIRED".  These two options allow you to choose if/when credit card information is stored in your SuperManager database.
  • When you choose to save credit card numbers in your database, they are not stored in a human readable format, however, they may not meet the encryption levels required by PCI standards
  • Besides the possibility that your credit card information being stored in the database, credit card numbers may be stored in files temporarily downloaded into the temp folder of your computer that are erased each time you import new orders.  This only applies to some store types.  Yahoo and Amazon stores do not export the entire credit card number, so it does not apply to them.

If you have any specific questions related to PCI compliance, please send us an email and we'll amend this FAQ.

This error can normally be resolved through one of the following.  Start with the first one and if that doesn't fix the issue, proceed to the next one on the list.

Need to Allow SuperManager Access to your QuickBooks File
When installing SuperManager for the first time or after upgrading SuperManager it might be necessary to have QuickBooks opened and be logged in as Administrator so that QuickBooks can display an access permissions request.

Need to Remove the Windows Compatibility or Run as Administrator Options for SuperManager
The QuickBooks SDK (which is what SuperManager uses to integrate with QuickBooks) does not allow applications running in Administrator or compatibility mode to access QuickBooks.  Make sure these options are disabled by right clicking on the shortcut you use to open SuperManager and selecting the "Compatibility" tab.  Make sure all compatibility mode options are turned off.  If all these options are already disabled, press the button "Change settings for all users" and make sure compatibility and administrator options are also disabled for all users.

As of version 1.5.1.0 you can define a set of rules that are used to calculate a risk score for each order that downloads into SuperManager.  These rules are found under "View", "Program Settings..." on the "Risk" tab.  You can define one or more rules.  The total risk score for an order is the sum of all the risks for the rules that apply to it.  If the total risk score for an order is greater than the value you set for "Highlight orders for risk > than" value.

To get started defining a risk, follow these steps:

  • Click on "Add" to add a new risk factor
  • Set the type of risk factor you want to apply
  • Certain risk factors require a "Details" setting.  For example, for a blacklist email risk factor the details would be a list of email addresses to blacklist separated by commas.
  • Enter an incremental amount to add to the risk score if this condition applies to an order

If there are other conditions that would be helpful to include in the risk score, please recommend it on our Requests for New Features board.

SuperManager's preferences and settings are arranged into program settings and store settings.  The program settings apply to every store file you open, while the store settings are specific to the file you have open.  If you need to be able to use different program settings for a particular file there is a way to do that:

  • Open the store file for which you need to have custom settings
  • Go to "View", "Store Settings" and select the "Order Processing Automation" tab
  • In the field at the very top, "Program Settings", enter a filename for these custom settings.  It is advisable to use the name of the store file (an smg file) with the extension ".set".  So, for example, if you had the file "My Store.smg" open, SuperManager's windows title bar would read "SuperManager - My Store" and you would enter "My Store.set" in this field
  • Press 'Ok' to save and close the store settings
  • Go to "View", "Program Settings" and make the modifications you need for this particular store file, but don't close the program settings just yet
  • Choose the "Preferences" tab of the program settings and press the "Save As..." button
  • When SuperManager asks you for a filename to save the program settings to, locate the directory where your smg file is located (i.e. "My Store.smg" using the example above) and save the file using the filename you entered in the store settings above (i.e. "My Store.set" using the example above).

After You have followed these steps, SuperManager will open the program settings you entered for this file, but other files that do not have a program settings chosen for them in their store settings will continue to use the default program settings.  When you make changes to the program settings while this file is opened, they will be saved to this custom location and when you make changes to the program settings while a store file without a custom program settings they will be saved tot the default program settings.

This error is caused by Yahoo's servers failing to completely send a page during the login process and/or Internet Explorer not returning to SuperManager an indication that a certain Yahoo page has been loaded.

Update to Version 1.6.8.5 or Greater
As of version 1.6.8.5 a navigation timeout limit was imposed that catches these errors and shows a more helpful message "Yahoo! timed out. Please try your request again."  After receiving this message, just make the initial request again and it should work.

If you have a version older than 1.6.6.0 installed, you will have to download the update manually.  To do this, go to http://www.thesupermanager.com/download.php and enter your license key. You can find your license key by going to "Help", "About The SuperManager" in SuperManager's main menu.

If you have installed the update and are still getting this and/or other errors when logging in, try the following:

If these things do not fix the error, contact support for more help.

SuperManager uses a series of libraries offered by Internet Explorer to navigate through Yahoo's and other shopping carts' back ends to download data, charge credit cards and other actions.
