General / Best Backup Method?

Hi - I'd like to set up a fool-proof backup method, meaning that if I've got no one very 'computer literate' available, and we have a hard drive crash, do you have a suggested means of backup?

I'm thinking RAID 1, OR have a USB hard drive attached which is bootable, which is getting nightly copies of the SM database and Dazzle on it. The idea being that if the primary drive fails, one could simply enter the BIOS and reset the drive order.

I'm not sure how this works with RAID 1 - apparently windows 7 Pro had this as a feature (Windows 8, which has unfortunately appeared on my new computer, has something called 'drive spaces', which seems more of a Microsoft debacle :)  ... OR, it seems possible to simply install Windows on the USB drive, and have backup software again wrote backup copies of SM and Dazzle DB's on it.

One other question - is there any issue of making a copy of SM's DB IF it happens to be making a duplicate at that time itself?

Hi All,

Setting up SM on a new computer, with a fresh install of Windows 7. All is working well, except when printing reports, the left and top margins default to 0px, though we're using the same .html document as we had before. Do you know of a way to permanently save the margins so they do not need to be adjusted each time reports are printed?

Hi All,

Two things...one, when we print ANYthing, receipt, picklist, etc, Supermanager then freezes, and task manager is needed to shut it down.

Second, Supermanager looses any non-default program settings when it's restarted. I'm on the latest version.

Any ideas?

Hi All -- The primary reason -- for us, anyway, of being able to run SM on 2 or more computers is to take multiple manual orders at the same time.

I expect it's possible to run SM on a second computer with an independent database, which would only be used to take and process some number of phone orders.

Would it be possible to export and merge this with the primary database? Please pardon me if this has been answered -- it would be really helpful if we could do this.

Hi All,

As you know, when shipping via USPS (which we do exclusively) there are several box choices which affect cost. We used to fairly rapidly be able to see what adjustments to make when the total shipment weight was displayed on the main order dialogue box.

If the total order weight could be shown somewhere within the initial order window again, that would be very helpful. What would be even more helpful would be a quicker way to change shipping methods or boxes from the first window ~ i.e. "medium flat rate box", "small flat rate box" ~ or convert to first class mail - that sort of thing. Seeing what's in the shipment, as the window displays now, isn't all that helpful (to us anyway, it may certainly be for others) ~ perhaps the space can be used for one of these features.

Hi All...

We immediately upgraded again after downgrading. We get significant #'s of manual orders, plus orders 'on hold' etc. that fall in the gap between upgrade and downgrade dates needed to be dealt with. We'll probably go back and attempt the downgrade again, as we've also lost the ability to easily see if we should be putting the orders in a flat rate box or not.

had there been so many requests for 'commision' so be shown on the order screen as for this to be generally more useful?

How about the shipment weight appears in the line with the shipment carrier? Or just under, like the items in the shipment? Hovering and clicking won't be significantly different, I don't think.

Oh, it has to do with seeing the order weight on the first page of an order window -- not entering weights. Probably an unusual circumstance -- we modify smaller weight orders to First Class (under .88lb I think)...We offer a flat rate shipping that defaults to Priority Mail. It's a quick change using the shipping method dropdown when we see the weight was under .88 and the selected shipping method was our Flat Rate service.

Hi,

We've just upgraded to the latest beta, and the package weight, which is very important to our order processing, no longer shows on the first order dialog box -- only after the order is opened. (Now we see "commission" instead.) This is a show stopper for us at the moment -- can you offer how I can downgrade from 1.4.2.8 beta?

Howdy,

We're trying to eliminate several clicks when charging orders. We've addressed this before, but even with the proper settings we're unable to achieve the setup we'd like.

Specifically, we'd like to charge a list of orders from the Open tab, but have prompts come up for every order. Our authorization floor is set at $1000, though we are getting prompted to authorize the charge first for every order on the list. Also, we have CVV usage turned off in Yahoo's backend, but are getting prompted for CVV when manual orders in the list. Could you help us out? We'd REALLY like to simply charge the order list with one click - never authorizing, and not using CVV.
