Hi,

Please help. I am now getting a Runtime Error this morning when I try and start SM. It says:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Program Files\SuperManager\SuperManager.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unsual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Please help!

Hey Nathan,
I'm sorry that you are having troubles this morning.

Please try the following tests which will help us debug the problem.

1. Rename the "supermanager.set" file that is located in the SuperManager program directory to "supermanagerbak.set".
2. Restart the SuperManager and see if the error is still there.

If the SuperManager starts properly then please send us the supermanagerbak.set file and we can look through it and fix it to send back.  (there is no confidential information stored in the .set file so you can send it over email)

If that doesn't work then please try the following

1. Temporarily rename your *.smg file so that the SuperManager will not try to open it when it starts.
2. Restart the SuperManager and see if the error is still there.

If the problem still exists then try opening the *.bak version of your file.

If the problem still exists then you can send us the file over http://www.sendthisfile.com/ and we will attempt to recover it for you.

Additionally, you can rerun the 1117 installer and run the "Repair" function to see if this will fix the problem.

Thanks!
Mike

Wow that had me really scared for a second. I tried renaming the settings file and it still wouldn't open but when I renamed the database file it opened so I loaded the backup file and it worked. I renamed it to the original filename we used and it worked perfectly. That's awesome that I didn't even have to go into my backfiles to fix it.

Any ideas on how to make sure this doesn't happen again?? I remember shutting down correctly yesterday.

Nathan,

This is the first time we have had a report of this exact error.  We have had other reports of errors in saving the file or file corruption.  We are trying to address those and will keep you posted on our progress.

Thanks,
David
