I am trying to integrate FedEx with SuperManager. However I unable, as I couldn't figure it out where i can find the file smtofedex.txt.

On the page 69 of the manual, it mentions at # 6 "At the import > Source screen select "text file" Next Browse...."

However, I have no idea where to browse.

I see that it is mentioned in manual  in UPS integration section, to download a file smupsw.txt, but for FedEx section I couldn't find any reference URL for download file.

Any help is appreciated.

Ahsan,

Sorry the manual is missing this important bit of info.  You can create this file by selecting any order(s), right clicking and choosing "Export" | "FedEx".  The smtofedex.txt file is just the file that SM will be exporting and FedEx will be using as its database.  You just need to create it in SuperManager by exporting one or more orders and titling it that.  Then, when you browse for it in the FedEx setup just choose the location that you exported it to in SM.

Post back whether this works for you.

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

Yes it did work. It was little confusing though when it comes to matching fields from the table to FedEX system. However after two hours of trial and error, import to FedEx is working.

In my FedEx system I could not find some of the variables mentioned under Package as mentioned at # 10 on the page 70 of the manual.  Such as there is not "Reference" but "Customer Reference" and I selected it. I could not find any "Payment Type", though there was " Bill Transportation To" field available which I selected and mapped it with sender.

Residential Delevery Flag was in Package Category and not in Special Services.

Now every thing is fine at Sm to FedEx , however FedEx to SM is not working. I wrote a text file with header order number,  Tracking number and map it to them with P.O Number and tracking number in FedEx system. I did not intentionally map it with customer reference. Now every time, I try to upload file fedextosm.txt in SM, it gives me error that order number is not valid. If i open the file in notepad, it shows correct order number and tracking number. Here is the preview of one instance:

"order number","tracking number"

"6495","473874260011128"

Any suggestion

Thanks alot

Ahsan

Ahsan,

Sorry that the instructions were not completely clear.  It seems that FedEx has made revisions to ShipManager that we need to incorporate into the manual.  Thanks to your documenting the differences here it should be pretty easy for us.

From the looks of the file I am guessing the following will resolve the problem:

1. Go to "View" | "Program Settings..." | "Import Formats" and select your fedex import format.  If you are using the default one it is just called "FedEx"
2. Set the text qualifier to " (double quote)
3. Click 'OK' to save and close the settings and try it again.

Let me know if this works for you.

Thnks,
David

Just to add something here. FedEx changes there software (and how it works) on almost a weekly basis. To keep up the changes would be impossible. Best idea is to download their manual and then just map it field (SM) for field (FedEx). This worked best for me. If you do enough business with FedEx they will send our a tech specialist to do this for you. I did it myself the first time but they now have a special batch mode for me that takes care of the customs paperwork as well. If you do enough business they should also give you a dedicated FedEx computer.

Just my experiences.

Hi Nathan...

Out of curiosity how much business you think can get these privileges. Any figure in $.

Appreciated.

Not sure. We needed the special integration because we ship across the border but the regular stuff I did myself.
