I am unable to export variants to excel

I am finally trying to export variants to excel so that I don't have to manually add the supplier's names to items with many, many variants. When I follow the directions given to me awhile ago, and right click on the products, there are only two options for export, and they are Froogle Product Feed and Inventory. There isn't an Export - Variants option, which I think I need. I tried to export using the inventory (about a dozen times) but have been unsuccessful, please help me out with this, as this is very frustrating. Thanks so much for any help. :)

I also wanted to mention that I have an excel spreadsheet from earlier this year with all of the columns set up for the suppliers name, item name, etc, and populated with all of my items as of last February. Is there any way I can export all of my items now from the supermanager, and override this info? and then add the suppliers to all of my new items with the multiple variants? I hope so, because this will make my life a lot easier lol! Thanks again. :)

Can someone please help me with this? I have a lot of new products with a lot of variables, thanks so much. :)

Faith,

A very similar process is defined here:

Instead of exporting, then importing variant inventory, however, you are going to export and import the variant supplier.

Thanks David,
Okay, after an hour and 15 minutes I was sort of able to do this, but my excel sheet is a mess, none of the columns line up with the information. So, can I just export onto the nice excel file that I have already with my inventory (from last year) and will it just add the new inventory, so I can update suppliers, or will it duplicate everything? Please let me know, I am so frustrated with this! This was a huge step for me to take trying to do this myself, and I feel like I'm almost there, I really appreciate your help. Thanks so much. :)

Faith,

Glad you're almost there!  Yes, you can just add it to your inventory spreadsheet from last year.  You can either allow it to import inventory and supplier both - or just change the inventory column to a supplier column.

Thanks David,
I am copying and pasting the heading of my excel spreadsheet, is this what I have to put in the export or import sections of the Supermanager? if not, please let me know exactly what to put in those settings so that everything is in sync. The spreadsheet I created yesterday was really a mess, almost everything in the wrong columns, here are the headings of my spreadsheet:

product_code   product_id   product_description   variant_name   variant_supplier   variant_dropship   variant_alternative_code

And do I need to leave the spaces between them, or just commas, or quotation marks and commas? I followed the directions you gave me as much as possible, but am still unsure. Hopefully this will be it and I'll get this thing done today lol! Thanks so much again! :)

Faith,

The column headings you put in are fine, but when you copy and paste things from excel it puts tabs in between them.  If you save the file in excel as tab delimitted you'll need to checkmark "Tab" in the delimitters settings.  If you save the file from excel as comma delimitted you need to comma delimit the definition as:

product_code, product_id, product_description, variant_name, variant_supplier, variant_dropship, variant_alternative_code

and then choose "Comma" as the delimiter.

Thanks,

Hi David,

I worked on this about 3 hours since yesterday, and I am so frustrated. I was able to create the spreadsheet but all of the data was double spaced. I didn't want to bug you guys here again lol, so I asked someone else (of course after researching and trying with no success) how to make the data in excel single spaced (so I could correctly add my suppliers) and they told me to sort by Column A. When I sorted it by column A, it became single spaced, although the item ids weren't all the way to the left, but to the right of that column. I thought I was almost there, but noticed that in my column E, which is supposed to be the supplier, that some products had variants there, or data that didn't belong there. I'm so frustrated I could cry...I have a correctly organized excel sheet that was done for me earlier this year (by someone from Super Manager) Can I just import my inventory onto this? If so how, and do I replace the excel when importing? I don't want to mess that up too, but if there was a way to do that it would be much easier.

Last night I did try to export, update and import just a few items, and was unable to import back into the supermanager, it said Warning: Import format does not contain 'variant_cost' cost was not considered in adjusting inventory. I am completely confused now because the person that set up the excel spreadsheet last time didn't put cost as a variable. It also said Invalid variant name/options and seemed to be combining the few items and supplier that I tried to export/import with other items in my inventory. I just want to be able to export and import the variants and the supplier, because I have some items with dozens of variants and can't do this manually. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Please, anyone who helps me, make the steps as specific as possible, I'm really trying my best here, once I figure out how to export/import my items to update the drop ship supplier, I can finally get on with the work I have to do...

David Johns

Faith,

Sorry this has been a frustrating process for you.  Do you want to send me your excel file and we'll see if we can fix it quickly?
