Can you please tell me if you have a way of debugging a sticking iexplore.exe when I close SM. I have all the latest updates and I am using a pretty good machine with 1 gig of ram. I know it sticks when I can't open SM (cause it's already open and stuck trying to close because of the iexplore.exe hang). I see it all in the task manager.

I use the following programs off and on. Outlook 2003, QB Pro 2003 CDN, POP Peeper (to check when orders come in by using email), RoboForm (for filling forms) and FedEx Ship Manager. I hope to move some of my shipping apps to another computer so I don't have to shut them down each time but this is what I got for now.

Any help would be appreciated.

Nathan,

Thanks for the feedback.  I was not aware until your post that it was a general issue.  It happens periodically on my test machine, but in the test environment I am frequently breaking out of SuperManager in abnormal ways so I was not aware it was a general problem.  We will keep you posted on the progress.  In the meantime just continue to close iexplore.exe through the task manager as you have been doing.

Also - can you please tell me which version of internet explorer you have installed?

Thanks,
David

Hi,

I am using Windows XP Pro with all updates, IE 6.0.2900.2180.

I was also considering using FireFox as my main browser if it keeps happening. I till try and only run 2 apps (ie and another) at a time to see if I can find the conflict.

David,

I've also had this problem recently and a few others have mentioned it.  I 'believe' it may have something to do with the last round of Windows updates ... as I know they have been creating havoc with Word, Excel, Explorer and IE.

I know I have the latest updates, I'm not sure about everyone else.  I just downloaded a 'fix' last night suggested by MS that related to the Yahoo toolbar; so I'll let you know if that helped.

Please post the fix url if that helped.

Update ... it didn't help

It seems to be crashing when it is closing the Yahoo session; at least for me ... which is why I thought the Yahoo toolbar 'fix' would help; but it didn't.  I didn't save the url yesterday ... duh to me ... but when I find it I'll post back.

Clues...I don't have it end my Yahoo session as I use it for my Yahoo toolbar. My next step will be to close the Yahoo toolbar to see if that is what is offending with the program.

Nathan,

Ironically enough we had another customer contact us today that is having this or a similar problem.  When you close the SuperManager does it actually close or does it hang with "Closing Yahoo! session" in the status bar?

Thanks,
David

It hangs but isn't visable on the screen. You have to go into the task manager and usually get rid of the lowest iexplore.exe on the list. Then the SM closes. It would be a shame to get rid of Yahoo Toolbar as I use it for my bookmarks (part of my webcentric plan, almost nothing stored on a computer).

Mine doesn't close ... it hangs on the 'closing yahoo session' ... then I have to go into the task manager and end task for the SuperManager.  I tried getting rid of the Yahoo tool bar; that didn't help either, so I don't think it's that ... I've pretty much ruled it out as being the problem on my system.

Nathan,

If I understood you correctly you are not having it close the Yahoo! session.  Is that right?

One thing to try would be to press ctrl-shift-e before you close the program.  Then see if there is anything going on in th browser just before it closes.  Let me know what you see.

Thanks,
David

That is correct David. I don't have it close out of my Yahoo session because I use Yahoo for my toolbar bookmarks and other things.

I will try you fix when I close the program and let you know.

Thanks,

Hi There,

Ok, I have the link that Microsoft pops-up sometimes when IE crashes ....

1)  I do have the latest updates for IE
2)  Windows software is up to date
3)  I regularly run several types of anti-spyware, adware, and maintenance scans in general (like daily  :-))
4)  I have all unfamiliar IE add-ons turned off
5)  I downloaded the Yahoo toolbar fix, and even uninstalled it at one point.
6)  Now I need to visit the newsgroup that it mentions.

Hope this helps rule a few things out anyway.

Thanks,
